Al Hosn Festival 2026 Showcases Abu Dhabi’s Living Heritage and National Identity

Al Hosn Festival 2026, organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, offered an immersive celebration of Emirati heritage from January 17 to February 1 at the historic Al Hosn site. The annual festival brought Abu Dhabi’s cultural roots to life through traditional performances, crafts, music, storytelling, and interactive experiences designed to connect communities with their shared history.
The programme highlighted the evolution of Abu Dhabi, from the discovery of water to the development of Qasr Al Hosn as a central landmark of the emirate. Visitors explored traditional desert life through performances, falconry, camel experiences, and Saluki dog shows, while the Fareej zone showcased live handicraft demonstrations, workshops, heritage games, and a vibrant marketplace supporting local artisans and productive families.
Special attractions such as Bait Al Hazawi, heritage workshops, and youth-focused programmes promoted learning through engagement, including UNESCO-recognised intangible cultural heritage elements. The festival also celebrated Emirati craftsmanship, traditional fashion, music, poetry, and sustainable practices, reinforcing the importance of preserving living heritage.
A key highlight was the Emirati Coffee Liwan, which explored coffee traditions, etiquette, and rituals through exhibitions, demonstrations, and family-friendly workshops. By blending education, creativity, and community participation, Al Hosn Festival 2026 successfully strengthened cultural identity, encouraged intergenerational dialogue, and reinforced Abu Dhabi’s position as a global cultural hub.
