DEWA Move-Out Guide: Final Bill and Clearance Certificate Basics
Published 3 months ago
When residents leave a Dubai property, DEWA move-out is one of the most important practical steps to finish properly. The service covers deactivation of electricity and water, issuance of the final bill, and the clearance certificate after settlement.
What the Move-Out Service Does
DEWA's move-out service page explains that customers can request deactivation of electricity and water, choose the move-out date and time, and receive a final bill after final meter readings are taken. The page also explains how security deposit balances are adjusted against the final bill.
Timing and Final Bill
DEWA says deactivation takes place within 24 working hours from the selected date and time, and the final bill is sent by email and SMS within 24 working hours from the disconnection date and time requested. The final bill becomes due immediately when issued.
Clearance Certificate and Refunds
According to DEWA, once the final bill is settled, the clearance certificate is automatically sent to the registered email. If the security deposit exceeds the final bill amount, the remaining balance is refunded according to the method chosen during the request, such as IBAN, cheque, or transfer to another active DEWA account where applicable.
Connection with Ejari
DEWA notes that the service is linked with Ejari cancellation in residential properties with a single premise number. This means utility move-out and tenancy closure can affect each other, so delaying one step can slow the other.
Final Note
If you are moving out, handle DEWA early instead of leaving it for the last day. Choosing the right move-out time and settling the final bill quickly makes handover and clearance much smoother.
