DEWA Move-To Guide: How to Transfer Utilities Between Dubai Homes
Published 2 months ago
Residents moving from one Dubai home to another do not always need to treat utility disconnection and reconnection as two separate problems. DEWA's Move-To service is designed to transfer electricity and water between premises within Dubai through one connected process.
What Move-To Covers
DEWA says the service transfers electricity and water from one premise to another within Dubai and also includes the transfer of the security deposit from the old account to the new account. The service works through digital integration with Dubai Land Department upon Ejari issuance.
What You Need Before Starting
DEWA lists the main requirements as the contract account number for the existing premises, the move-out date, the move-in premise number, and a valid Ejari number for the new premise. Additional requirements may apply for free zone customers, owners, or GCC nationals and investors.
Fees and Timing
DEWA lists both deactivation and activation charges, plus knowledge, innovation, and registration fees where applicable, alongside any security deposit difference that must be paid. The service page says electricity and water will be connected to the new premise within 15 working hours from payment of the required deposit and fees, while disconnection at the old premise takes place within 24 working hours from the selected date and time. The final bill for the old premise is then sent through the registered email and mobile number within 24 working hours from the requested disconnection time.
Why It Is Convenient
DEWA's FAQ says Move-To combines move-in activation and move-out final bill handling through one interaction point. That can make a real difference for residents trying to coordinate handover, key collection, utility continuity, and deposit management at the same time.
Final Note
If you are shifting from one Dubai property to another, Move-To is often easier than handling both sides manually. Make sure your Ejari and old account details are ready, then use the official DEWA channel so your move-out and move-in stay aligned.
