Dubai Launches Middle East's First Drone Delivery System at Silicon Oasis

Dubai has taken a significant leap in logistics innovation with the launch of the Middle East's first-of-its-kind drone delivery system at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO). Inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, this initiative underscores the emirate's commitment to integrating advanced technologies into its infrastructure.
During the launch, Sheikh Hamdan placed the inaugural order through the drone delivery system, dispatching a package from the Rochester Institute of Technology-Dubai (RIT-Dubai) to a designated landing point within DSO. This successful delivery marks a milestone in Dubai's pursuit of smart logistics solutions.
The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has granted the first drone delivery license to Keeta Drone, a Chinese firm specializing in unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operations. Initially, Keeta Drone will deploy six drones to service DSO, with plans to expand operations in collaboration with partners such as Fakeeh University Hospital, Americana, and RIT-Dubai. These partnerships aim to enhance services including emergency medical deliveries and high-priority logistics.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that this project aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aspires to position Dubai among the world's top three urban economies. By leveraging advanced technologies, Dubai aims to create a diversified and flexible digital economy, reinforcing its status as a global hub for innovation.
The drone delivery system is set to expand its coverage to encompass one-third of Dubai by 2030. This ambitious plan reflects the emirate's dedication to adopting cutting-edge technologies to improve efficiency and service delivery across various sectors.
