Notably, the United States has experienced a decline, dropping from 27th to 38th place. American passport holders now have visa-free access to 123 countries and visa-on-arrival options in 50 countries. Similarly, the United Kingdom has fallen from 22nd to 32nd position, with its citizens able to visit 125 countries visa-free and 49 with a visa on arrival.
The Henley Passport Index, which bases its rankings on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), presents a slightly different perspective. In its 2024 report, Singapore claims the top spot, granting its citizens visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 195 destinations. Following closely are Japan, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, each with access to 192 destinations. The United States ranks eighth, offering visa-free access to 186 destinations, while the United Kingdom holds the fourth position with 190 accessible destinations.
